What the New Hemp Ban Means for You — And Why We’re Fighting Back

Last week, Congress passed a continuing resolution to reopen the federal government after the longest shutdown in American history. Buried within that must-pass bill was something that threatens the future of the entire hemp industry: a provision that effectively bans all consumable hemp by imposing a 0.4mg total THC cap per product.

This cap is so low that it would eliminate nearly every hemp-derived product on the market today — including the products we make.

What You Can Do Right Now

If you care about hemp access, sustainable agriculture, or simply keeping your favorite products legal and available, here’s how you can help:

1. Make noise.

Talk about the ban. Post on social media. Share what this means to you. The more people know, the harder it is for lawmakers to ignore.

2. Call your representative.

Let them know you oppose the 0.4mg cap and support a regulated market that protects consumer safety without eliminating an entire industry.

3. Join our email list.

We’re coordinating with industry leaders, advocacy groups, and policy experts. As the strategy takes shape, we’ll share updates, action steps, and opportunities to get involved.

The Good News

This hemp ban was inserted into a bill that ended the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. The pressure to reopen the to government was too great for any member of Congress to hold that up for hemp (although Sen. Rand Paul tried). While this is obviously a blow to our industry, there is a lifeline in this bill: a one-year implementation period.

That means:

  • We are still operating business as usual until November 12, 2026.

  • You still have access to the products you love.

  • We have time to fight this — and we’re going to use it.

This fight is far from over. In fact, it’s just beginning.

Why This Matters: It’s About More Than Hemp Products

We believe deeply in the power of this plant — its therapeutic benefits, its environmental potential, and its ability to offer people an alternative to alcohol, pharmaceuticals, and other substances that often come with far worse side effects. This has never been about just getting people buzzed or high. And here's why.

We believe access to cannabis helps communities. Recent studies found that when cannabis becomes accessible, health insurance premiums go down

Since the 2018 Farm Bill federally legalized hemp, the U.S. has seen the largest expansion of cannabis accessibility in modern history. That means folks in Texas or Wisconsin who had no legal marijuana industry could access these products.

Several states across the country use hemp taxes to fund public health programs.

We believe in hemp's major environmental impacts. Hemp has massive carbon sequestration, regenerative properties, and is a viable replacement to harmful materials like plastic.

Hemp is twice as effective at capturing carbons than trees. It is also regenerative crop, meaning it gives more than it takes from the soil. Because it is a naturally resistant to many pests and diseases, hemp reduces the need for synthetic pesticides and herbicides. This has made it a more viable and lucrative crop for farmers.

Lastly, there are over 50,000 uses for hemp, including making textiles, building materials, and bioplastics - all with less harmful impacts to our world.

We believe in the economic benefits of hemp. Aside from the therapeutic and sustainable impacts, hemp has grown into a $28B industry since the passing of the Farm Bill in 2018. This industry supports over 300,000 jobs. And has given

All of that could be erased in just one year — unless we change it.

We’re Not Going Down Without a Fight

We stand with the farmers, makers, retailers, scientists, veterans, patients, and everyday consumers who rely on hemp. Together with industry partners, we are working toward a regulated, safe, accessible market — one that protects you, protects small businesses, and protects the integrity of this plant.

We believe in hemp.
We believe in its future.
And we believe in fighting for it.
